Troglodytidae

Wrens are small brown passerine birds from the family Troglodytidae, consisting of 96 species across 19 genera. Most species are found in the New World, with the Eurasian wren being the only exception, as it is distributed across Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. Wrens are known for their loud, complex songs despite their inconspicuous appearance.

These birds inhabit diverse environments, from dry woodlands to rainforests, and vary in behavior from secretive species to those like the Campylorhynchus that are more conspicuous. Many wrens feed primarily on insects and small invertebrates but may also consume vegetable matter and small animals. They build dome-shaped nests and can be either monogamous or polygamous. Some species engage in unique behaviors, such as the Eurasian wren wading for fish or following badgers to catch disturbed prey.
