Myzopodidae
Myzopoda is the sole genus in the bat family Myzopodidae, which includes two species and is endemic to Madagascar. Fossil records suggest this family has a long lineage in Africa, dating back to the late Eocene. Molecular data indicates that Myzopodidae is basal within the Gondwanan superfamily Noctilionoidea, which likely originated in Africa before spreading to Australia and South America via Antarctica. Myzopodids are estimated to have diverged from other Noctilionoidea around 50 million years ago.
