Aegithalidae
Long-tailed tits, are small birds from the family Aegithalidae, which includes 13 species across three genera, primarily found in Eurasia. They are active foragers that live in flocks of up to 50 during the non-breeding season. These forest birds prefer habitats on forest edges and understories, with the long-tailed tit having the most widespread distribution.
Most Long-tailed tits are non-migratory, although some may disperse in their northern ranges. They primarily feed on insects and occasionally consume plant material during winter. Typically monogamous, some species may exhibit polyandry or polygyny, with pairs sometimes aided by helpers to raise young. They build domed nests in dense foliage, laying 5 to 10 white eggs, which are incubated for about 13 to 14 days. Young chicks are fed mainly on insects and spiders.
