The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, focused on creating, protecting, and restoring native woodlands. Since 1972, it has planted over 68 million trees. Its main goals are to protect rare ancient woodlands, restore damaged ones, and plant native trees for the benefit of people and wildlife.
The charity owns more than 1,000 sites covering over 24,700 hectares (approximately 247 square kilometers), with 8,070 hectares (33%) identified as ancient woodland, while also ensuring public access to these areas.
