Wildlife and Countryside Act

The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 is a UK law aimed at complying with European Council Directive 79/409/EEC on wild bird conservation. It protects native species, especially those at risk, controls non-native species release, and enhances the protection of Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
