The Mammal Society

The Mammal Society is a British charity focused on researching and conserving UK mammals. Founded in 1954, it held its first spring conference at the University of Exeter the following year.

With about 2,000 members, including mammalogists, ecologists, and enthusiasts, the Society conducts national surveys like Mini Mammal Monitoring to improve understanding and address conservation challenges. It aims to overcome the under-recording of mammals in the British Isles by creating a National Mammal Atlas to inform conservation decisions.

Additionally, the Society offers expert-led training courses in ecology, technical skills, and surveying for consultants, conservationists, and enthusiasts.
