Stickleback

Sticklebacks are primarily found in the ocean, with some species existing in freshwater. Freshwater sticklebacks evolved in Europe, Asia, and North America after the Ice Age, developing distinct features from marine species. They are carnivorous, feeding on small animals like insects and fish larvae. Notably, sticklebacks have strong spines in their dorsal fins and lack scales, though some species have bony armor plates.
