Slow Worm

Slow worms are intriguing lizards that are often mistaken for worms or snakes. Their shiny grey-brown bodies feature slender darker stripes, and older males may have vibrant blue spots. Typically around 30 centimeters long, adult slow worms have a cylindrical shape that distinguishes them from snakes, which taper behind the head. They can be recognized by their blinking eyelids, a clear difference from snakes. With their smooth, shiny scales that have a polished metallic appearance, slow worms are remarkable creatures that deserve appreciation and protection.
