A reedbed, or reed bed, is a natural habitat found in floodplains, waterlogged areas, and estuaries. It develops as young reeds colonize open water or wet ground, eventually leading to drier areas. As reedbeds mature, they accumulate litter above the water level, allowing larger plants, such as shrubs and trees, to thrive.
