Predation

Predation is a biological interaction where one organism, the predator, kills and consumes another organism, the prey. This behavior falls under various feeding strategies, including parasitism and micropredation (which typically do not kill the host) and parasitoidism (which does). Predation differs from scavenging, although many predators also scavenge. It can also overlap with herbivory, as some seed predators and harmful frugivores qualify as predators.
