Plum

A plum is a fruit from certain species in the subgenus Prunus. Dried plums are often called prunes, but in the U.S., they may be labeled as “dried plums.”

Believed to be one of the first domesticated fruits, plums originated in the East European and Caucasian mountains and China. They were introduced to Britain from Asia and have been cultivated in Andalusia, southern Spain. Plums are diverse, with trees typically growing 5 to 6 meters (16 to 20 feet) tall when pruned. The fruit is a drupe, known for its firm and juicy flesh.
