Peak District

The Peak District is an upland area in central-northern England, primarily in Derbyshire, but also extending into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire, and South Yorkshire. It comprises two main parts: the Dark Peak, known for its gritstone moorland, and the White Peak, characterized by limestone valleys and gorges. Kinder Scout, at 2,087 feet (636 meters), is the highest point. Most of the area is within the Peak District National Park, designated in 1951.
