Marine

Marine habitats are divided into coastal and open ocean areas. Coastal habitats extend from the highest tide on the shoreline to the edge of the continental shelf, where most marine life is found, despite this area covering only seven percent of the ocean. Open ocean habitats lie beyond the continental shelf in the deep ocean.
