Lake District

The Lake District, or Lakeland, is a mountainous region and national park in Cumbria, North West England, known for its beautiful landscapes, including lakes and the Cumbrian mountains. It is connected to notable literary figures like Beatrix Potter and John Ruskin.

The region features England’s highest peaks: Scafell Pike (978 meters), Helvellyn (950 meters), and Skiddaw (931 meters). It also contains sixteen major lakes, with Windermere being the longest and largest, and Wast Water the deepest.

Established as a national park in 1951 and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, the Lake District covers an area of 2,362 square kilometers (912 square miles).
