The orca (Orcinus orca), or killer whale, is a toothed whale and the largest member of the oceanic dolphin family. Recognizable by its black-and-white patterned body, the orca is found in diverse marine environments worldwide, from the Arctic to tropical seas. As apex predators, orcas have a varied diet that includes fish, sharks, rays, and marine mammals like seals and dolphins. Different populations often specialize in particular types of prey.
