Joint Nature Conservation Committee

The Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) is a public body that advises the UK government and devolved administrations on nature conservation issues both domestically and internationally. Originally established under the Environmental Protection Act of 1990, JNCC was restructured by the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act of 2006.

The Joint Committee, which consists of members from nature conservation bodies in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, along with independent appointees, governs JNCC under an independent chair.
