Jackdaws are two species of birds in the genus Coloeus, closely related to crows and ravens but generally smaller. They have a blackish crown, wings, and tail, with lighter plumage elsewhere. The name Coloeus comes from Neo-Latin, derived from the Ancient Greek word for jackdaws: koloiós. Jackdaws are found across Asia, Europe, Africa, and Siberia.
