Humpback Whale

The humpback whale (Megaptera novaeangliae) is a baleen whale and the sole species in its genus. Adults typically measure 14 to 17 meters (46 to 56 feet) in length and can weigh up to 40 metric tons (44 short tons). Known for their long pectoral fins and tubercles on their heads, humpback whales are famous for breaching and other unique surface behaviors, making them a favorite among whale watchers.
