Hemerobiiformia

The Hemerobiiformia is a suborder of insects within the order Neuroptera, encompassing most lacewings, antlions, and their relatives. A 2014 study using mitochondrial DNA revealed that Hemerobiiformia is paraphyletic, meaning it does not contain all members of its clade. This includes the Myrmeleontiformia, traditionally viewed as separate. Additionally, the Osmyloidea, often classified under Hemerobiiformia, appear to be a more ancient lineage that predates both Hemerobiiformia and Myrmeleontiformia.
