Gleaning

Gleaning is a feeding strategy used by birds and bats to catch invertebrates, primarily arthropods, by plucking them from surfaces like foliage, the ground, and crevices. This method differs from hawking, where insects are caught mid-air, or chasing moving insects. Notably, in birds, gleaning does not include foraging for seeds or fruit.
