Flock

A flock is a group of birds that gather to forage or travel together, often associated with migration. Flocking provides benefits such as better foraging and protection from predators, although there are costs for individual birds.

Flocks typically consist of the same species, but mixed flocks with multiple species are common. Birds that flock together usually share similar characteristics, such as size and shape. Mixed flocks enhance protection against predators, especially in forests where early warning calls are vital for detecting danger.
