The Eurasian goshawk (Astur gentilis) is a medium-large bird of prey in the Accipitridae family, which includes eagles, buzzards, and harriers. It is widely distributed across temperate Eurasia and is the only “goshawk” in most of its range. While primarily resident, some migrate south in winter. As of 2023, North American goshawks are classified as the American goshawk (Astur atricapillus).
