
The eastern grey squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), or grey squirrel, is a tree squirrel native to eastern North America, where it is vital for forest regeneration. It has been widely introduced globally and is considered an invasive species in Europe. Since 2016, it has been listed as an Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern, which prohibits its importation, breeding, transportation, commercialization, or intentional release in the European Union.
