Caterpillars

Caterpillars are the larval stage of insects in the order Lepidoptera, which includes butterflies and moths. The term can also refer to the larvae of sawflies. Most caterpillars primarily eat plant material, especially leaves, but about 1% consume other insects or are cannibalistic. Some species, like clothes moths, feed on wool, while horn moths eat the hooves and horns of dead ungulates.
