The bearded reedling (Panurus biarmicus) is a small, long-tailed bird found in reed beds near water across Eurasia. Known as the bearded tit or the bearded parrotbill, it is the only species in its family, Panuridae.
This bird is sexually dimorphic, forming lifelong pairs and breeding multiple times each season. The Bearded Tit diet consists of small invertebrates in summer and plant seeds in winter.
Measuring 14.5 to 17 cm (5.7 to 6.7 inches), the bearded reedling has orange-brown plumage, a whitish throat and chest, and distinct black and white markings. Males have grey heads with black mustaches, while females are paler and lack these features.
Social in nature, bearded reedlings are often seen in groups during the non-breeding season and in pairs or family groups during breeding.
